Sofia Szamosi is an artist and author from New York City. Originally a self-taught painter and photo booth artist, she fell in love with making books of all kinds. She is now working on her third graphic novel, but she still loves making zines and artists’ books whenever she can. Her first graphic novel, UNRETOUCHABLE (Lerner / Graphic Universe, 2022), originated as an autobiographical zine. Her second book, BAD KID: My Life as a “Troubled Teen” (Little, Brown Ink, forthcoming 2026), is a graphic memoir exploring her adolescence in and out of the troubled teen industry. Her illustrations have been featured in Whole Girl by Sadie Radinsky (Sounds True, 2021), and one of her zines is included in the Mad Studies Reader: Interdisciplinary Innovations in Mental Health (Lewis & Russell, Routledge, 2024). She now resides in Massachusetts with her husband, two daughters, and their three-toothed Pomeranian, named Breakfast (who also happens to be a meme).
