Josh MacPhee’s Book Zoo features a collection of 156 animal motif colophons. With each chapter introduced by MacPhee’s playful book creature illustrations, Book Zoo documents a little looked at history of publisher’s logos, also known as colophon, that range from colossal mammals to insect pavilion. Often used as a printer’s mark, the history of the colophon traces back to the early 16th century to distinguish books by printers and publishers. This is Pound the Pavement #13, a part of MacPhee’s series of zines.
