Letraset press on letters, turmeric in a PVA/water suspension, brush, ink, wax crayon rubbings, other pigments, and a pastel drawing by Laura Smith. Paper: Okawara, Japan, cover paper Unryu, Thailand. Coptic stitch binding, painted board covers.
Like the throwing of the I-Ching sticks, Conflation seeks prophecy by throwing text, letters, and images onto the page. By taking impressions of the world and vigorously pressing them into paper, Conflation forms a primordial pool, a galactic-book-nursery for star-letter birth and typographical expressionism, all under the watchful eye of a stern, falcon-holding midwife.
Various tombstones, Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, New York, (burial place of Mark Twain), and linoleum cut plates by Cat Glennon.
