Gender-Expansive Families Propaganda Party!

Come create together! Join us for a collaborative day of making posters, buttons, t-shirts, zines, and other materials for Trans Day of Visibility events.

Sunday, March 23, 12-5pm
Interference Archive
314 7th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215

More information here.

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others, learn about important work happening in our community, and gather materials to show support and solidarity.

The event is free and open to everyone! All materials created will be available at no cost. While not required, donations are warmly welcomed here, which supports materials expenses.

Bring your own canvas! We’ll have some t-shirts available, but we encourage you to bring your own t-shirts and tote bags to print on.

Can’t make it? Or you’re not in the NYC area? You can get a fundraiser t-shirt with one of the graphics created during our workshop, Posters 101!

Who is invited? Everyone! Come with friends or on your own to meet new people. Representatives from organizations are welcome to bring flyers or postcards to share your work and help others connect with your cause.

Our Organizers: The Gender-expansive Families Propaganda Party is organized by Parents of Gender Expansive Kids (POGEK) @ps39pogek at PS39 together with @interferencearchive and additional support from @ps39pa@booklynart@textileartscenter and @trans.formative.schools 💕

What is a propaganda party? It’s a gathering where organizations, activists, artists, and community members come together to create and share t-shirts, posters, buttons and other materials while connecting with one another in a supportive environment.

Why “propaganda”? “Propaganda,” shares roots with “propagate,” and refers to information, ideas, or images shared in support of a cause. While this word has taken on negative connotations in modern times, we’re reclaiming it! Our daily lives are saturated with supposedly “neutral” materials that implicitly support existing power structures. We use the word “propaganda” because this work is not neutral—we’re proudly supporting our gender-expansive community.

Makes a great gift.

Support a great program.

Books Build Community

Bookmaking is a vital community resource – one that we need more than ever. Help us make sure we never lose access to this important tool. Donate what you can so that Booklyn can provide the tools, guidance, and inspiration to create the books – and the communities – we all need

For the past 25 years, Booklyn has helped communities grow by bringing the knowledge of book arts to public spaces. Our workshops take place in libraries and the parks, and in community spaces like Mixteca (a space dedicated to the Mexican & Latin American immigrant community) and the Brooklyn Community Pride Center.

Can you donate today so that more people can access our free, on-site workshops?

At a time when we need connection and community more than ever, your gift will help us to create a future that includes bookmaking, zine-making, and thriving communities.
