Booklyn Artists’ Book Fair (BArB 2019)
March 9 - 10, 2019
Park Central Hotel New York, 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019, USA
Booklyn and the New York City Book & Ephemera Fair invite you to the 2019 premiere of the Booklyn Artists’ Book Fair, a diverse and dynamic exhibit of innovative artists’ books. The ‘Booklyn Artists’ Book Fair’ is Manhattan’s only book fair to feature artists’ books from unique artists’ books to street zines.
The Fair will have 40 tables of esoteric bookmakers in a wide variety of media including: aquatint, collage, fine letterpress, hand-painted, photo-art, screenprint and risograph. The ‘Booklyn Fair’ both bridges to and provides a cutting edge alternative to the coinciding Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America Book Fair and to other art fairs happening that same weekend.
The fair showcases provocative new work including the New York premiere of the cult zinester, Sofia Szamosi’s “#METOO ON INSTAGRAM: ONE YEAR LATER” and new work by international pop-up artist, Colette Fu. Attending also are socially politically engaged publications from Interference Archive, Justseeds Artists Cooperative, and Maria Veronica San Martin’s deconstructions of the Pinochet era in Chile. Swarthmore College’s “Friends, Peace and Sanctuary” will premiere collaborations between American artist bookmakers and artists, poets and artisans from the Syrian and Iraqi refugee community in Philadelphia.Booklyn will represent the work of: Tia Blassingame, Wolfgang Buchta, Ken Campbell, Stephen Dupont, FLY, Candace Hicks, Our Comics, Ourselves, Ruth Lingen, David Sandlin, Maria Veronica San Martin, Veronika Schäpers, Beldan Sezen, Robbin Ami Silverberg,Sofia Szamosi, Brian D.
