Swedish/French artist duo Anna Hellsgård & Christian Gfeller have created and produced unique and multiple artists’ books, zines, and prints under the imprint Re:Surgo! since May 2011. Previously operating as Bongoût (1995-2012), Gfeller & Hellsgård regularly join forces with artists, illustrators and designers to create collaborative silkscreen limited editions. Known for the highly collectible uniques and small runs of hand-printed and hand-bound books in their Berlin showroom (Re:Surgo! Showroom | Torstrasse 110 | 10119 Berlin), Re:Surgo! stands for high-quality visuals that kick and constantly challenge. Their books, zines, and prints range in aesthetic from contemporary art to experimental graphics to illustration and reflect the attitudes of noise music, independent cinema, and trash and raw vintage punk graphics. Re:Surgo! books and prints have been exhibited worldwide and are in numerous museums and collections, including the MoMA NY, MoMA SF, Stanford Art Library, Harvard University’s Fine Art Library, the State Museum of Berlin’s Art Library, the Yale University Art Collection, and many more. The collection of the University of Minnesota recently bought the complete silkscreened artists’ book archive of Bongoût.
