Peter Koch began his printing career in Missoula, Montana with one platen press. After settling in the San Francisco Bay area and immersing himself in the San Francisco literary tradition of fine press printing, he acquired an international reputation and several more presses. Peter Koch, Printers currently operate with a 100-year-old Chandler & Price 8 x 10 platen press, multiple Vandercook & Hacker cylinder proof presses, a Heidelberg KSBA cylinder press, and a large collection of wooden & foundry type. This equipment is used in tandem with photopolymer plate technology to provide clients with contemporary digital imaging guided by classical tradition. Clients and collectors range from major international research libraries to bibliophilic organizations and private collectors and publishers. In addition to commission work, Editions Koch design, print and publish limited editions of ancient Greek philosophers, the musings of maverick poets, and the images of world-renowned wood engravers and photographers, and specialize in publishing limited edition livres d' artiste, broadsides, portfolios, and text transmission objects.
