After the movement of 1968 in Mexico, there were several groups of artists interested in spreading a more social and participatory artistic practice to guide the production and dissemination modes alternative to the established, and also in solidarity with social movements that emerged at that time . The following groups were formed: El Colectivo, Germinal, Grupo de Fotógrafos Independientes, Marco, Mira, Narrativa Visual, No Grupo, Peyote y la Compañía, Proceso Pentágono, Suma, Taller de Arte y Comunicación (Taco) de la Perra Brava, Taller de Arte e Ideología (TAI), Taller de Investigación Plástica (TIP), Tepito Arte Acá, Tetraedro, Organización de Arte y Cultura, Centro Libre de Experimentación Teatral y Artística (The Collective, Germinal, Independent Photographers Group, Mark, Look, Visual Narrative, No Group, Peyote and the Company, Process Pentagon, Sum, Art and Communication Workshop (Taco) de la Perra Brava Workshop Art and Ideology (TAI), Plastic Research Workshop (TIP), Here Arts Tepito, Tetrahedron, Art and Culture Organization, Center for Experimental Free Theatre and Arts), among others. La Escuela de Cultura Popular Revolucionaria Mártires del 68 was formed on January 6, 1988. It was a project that arose from the need to establish a cultural education linked to social movements in the country. The founders were members of the Taller de Arte e Ideología, del Centro de Experimentación Teatral y Artística y de la Organización de Arte y Cultura (Workshop of Art and Ideology, Center for Theatrical and Artistic Experimentation and the Organization of Arts and Culture), subsequently integrated into the Circulo de Estudios de la Casa del Lago (Circle for the Study of the Lake House). The history of La Escuela, as many know, can be framed from the venues where it was growing and taking shape the project, each has its story, and that after several years of struggle, manage to get the place where currently.
