Hello? Booklyn Calling…
May 3, 2022
BIG NEWS–We started a podcast!
BOOKLYN CALLING amplifies diverse voices within the artists’ book field and explores artmaking as a tool for community engagement, education, and social justice work.
This is a labor of love and a work in progress. For years we’ve been itching to do this, and we’ve finally pushed through to the other side. There is so much we want to explore and discuss through this new-to-us platform, so we hope you will subscribe and go on this journey with us.
We’ve got six episodes this season, the first of which–with NYC multimedia artist Zoe Beloff–is out now! We’re putting the finishing touches on the rest which feature artists Sauda Mitchell, sto len, and the Baltimore & Mexico City-based Monument Quilt Project, the Pittsburgh-based Queer Ecology Hanky Project, and the Artbuild Workers of Milwaukee, WI.
We are unbelievably grateful to Kaia Fischer & Stuart Gunter who created our theme music, to Mylo Mendez for the superb logo illustrations, and to Tom Tenney of Radio Free Brooklyn & Earbong who did our sound engineering and editing.
Subscribe and listen on SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify.
Booklyn Calling is made possible in part by funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the NY City Council.
