Brian D. Tripp’s interventions on commercial advertising and gay pornography interrogate the male gaze and body image while image-bombing BDT’s personalized Karuk iconography into the image/symbol field. These collisions trigger a complex discourse that joyously implicates the influences of white supremacy and settler/colonialism in the commodification of the human body, gender roles, and sexuality. BDT’s interventions re-appropriate and critique colonial hegemony while celebrating the strength of Karuk identity and culture.
The double-sided accordion fold binding and blingy box was designed and fabricated by Sophia Kramer. The book was designed by BDT and Marshall Weber.
