WHAT IS WHAT is both an exercise on new types of legibilities within western education/English Latin language arts, and a meditation on not knowing. It aims to represent new and unknown potentials of language written and spoken, showing a physical representation of the complexities that knowledge embodies as it passes from body to body. It also aims to represent the twists of knowledge as it moves from one person’s karmic position to another, showing some truths as unfixed realities, or rather, unpinnable by language.

The folded ribbons of sentences began as a typewritten response to El Lissitzky’s Topology of Typography, and has since evolved into seeds for new textbooks.
