“This large book has pages of embordered organza, just like my other works. This work is about a mother. Mother who birthed and raised me, mother who I am, and mother nature. The circular image of a vein or root-like matrix represents how a mother feeds her child through her placenta and breasts. But it is also the shape that can be found in nature. Such as tree branches, tree root system, leaves….. By relating all these things together, I am reminding myself and, hopefully, the viewer how small we are in this world, yet we are a part of it.” — artist Rima Day
