Salty is constructed of handmade salt paper (cotton, abaca, sea salt, table salt, pigment) bound together on exposed dried squid tentacles. To experience this artist’s book you must lick it. The salty taste of the paper, embedded with extra coarse sea salt and produced in salty water, is meant to conjure the experience of tasting seawater. 

Salty is part of ANTHROPOCENE, an interdisciplinary body of work combining art and science to explore the complicated history and future of anthropogenic effects on the Earth’s systems.
