Revolution is a poetic invocation of the core statement in “The Guiding Principles on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights”, a resolution adopted in 2012 by the UN Human Rights Council. The book features complex collaged rubbings from public memorials and historical markers in Ireland, Denmark, and the New York City which are then treated with various wet media including Organik’s signature turmeric pigment. The rubbings primary matrices are the World Poverty Stone in the Docklands of Dublin, and the 14 brass plaques that demarcate the path of Leopold Bloom, the protagonist of James Joyce’s novel Ulysses, as he walks through Dublin.
