This book is a vibrant collage of Favianna’s stencils, spanning her printmaking practice from 2013 to 2019. Each stencil—caked with ink, hand-cut from acetate and cardstock—carries the history of past prints, now reimagined into striking new compositions. Rearranged and layered like the monotype prints they once helped create, these pages reveal her mastery of color, form, and repetition. Just as she builds depth through layers of ink in her prints, this book offers a textured glimpse into her evolving visual language.
The stencils embody themes of love, self-transformation, pussy power, and sexual freedom—recurring motifs in Favianna’s work. Originally used to create limited edition monoprint suites of 10 to 25, these prints have long sold out, making this book a rare glimpse into their creative origins. The pages reveal the very matrixes that shaped her textures, alongside bold black outline stencils. In the acetate stencils, layers of ink and roller marks remain visible, bearing the imprint of the artistic process itself—a testament to the hands-on, tactile nature of her printmaking.
