E/v/e/r/y C/l/o/u/d evokes the ephemerality of clouds, serving as a metaphor for the transient and elusive experience of migration, identity, and belonging. The text comes from the poem of the same title written by the artist in English and Spanish.
“The concept for this work is rooted in the universal gesture of looking up at the sky, which serves as a timeless symbol of inspiration, hope, and boundless possibility. I’m interested in the way clouds represent an impermanent temporality, and suggest forces beyond the human scale that hold the potential for psychic and spiritual meaning within migration and everyday life. By situating the viewer’s gaze towards the vast expanse above, the artwork creates an experience that invites contemplation and introspection, offering a metaphorical escape from the constraints of daily life, reminding viewers of the limitless potential that exists within themselves and the world around them.”
This artist book features laserjet prints on mylar. The mylar comes from former paintings that were cut down to sheet size, and were layered with acrylic, ink, and spray paint.
