‘This book was made in six hours from 10 PM on October 6th to 2 AM on the next day during my attendance at the Frankfurt Bookfair. As I rubbed the quotes from Adorno into the book I also made real-time notes of the conversations I had with the enthusiastic, critical, funny and profound people who watched me work and kept me well supplied.’ – Marshall Weber

The rubbings are from the Theodor Adorno Memorial in Frankfurt, Germany (designed by Vadim Zakharov). Much of the story is by Aladeen (namesake of the lamp holder in Arabic myth). The book is a hand-sewn semi-exposed pamphlet stitch, designed and bound by Veronika Schäpers in Tokyo, Japan using Asaito thread.

Media: wax crayon and graphite on pages of handmade Japanese Kozo paper from Ogawamachi in Caitama Prefecture. The covers are traditional handmade Nagabanshi Kozo paper naturally dyed with Persimmon and Walnut juice. The fig leaf originates from a plant from the hills of Anatolia in Turkey, though the specific leaf embedded on the cover was harvested from a cutting grown in Offenbach, Germany.
