Slaves of Christo is the result of work by Julia Hall, Chrissy Leggio, and Booklyn in unauthorized collaboration with Christo and Jeanne-Claude. It is comprised of journals written by Hall and Leggio while they worked on the installation of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Gates project in New York City’s Central Park. The journals serve as a damning yet guileless critique of the entire venture, appropriately accompanied by Peter Spagnuolo’s eloquent and equally critical afterward. Slaves of Christo follows in the post-modern tradition of irreverent collaboration, following the same impulse that led Marcel Duchamp to draw a mustache on the Mona Lisa.
