Since 1992 I have been making artist books. For many years, the technique of woodcut, this medieval reproduction technology has fascinated me. It does not take much to do: a piece of wood, a knife, a paint roller, pigments, linseed oil, and Japanese paper. This technique allows me easily to duplicate the pictures. With my handwriting, I copy the words and sentences. In recent years I'm interested in the direct, spontaneous, and honest medium of painting. But still, I need the form of the book to put the words into the pictures. I need the form of storytelling with a beginning, a middle, an end. The words and images enrich each other mutually. To discover the words and the phrases we can live with is an experience of happiness for me. So the subjects are changing and the things I read are changing me: Don Quixote, Hannah Arendt, the Human Rights, Pina Bausch, Albert Camus, Herbert Marcuse, and Samuel Beckett. After studying "cultural education" which consisted in an interdisciplinary training (painting, printmaking, sculpture, theater, dance, art history, art educación ) in Germany, I went 1992 to the south of Spain, to Granada. Since then I commute back and forth between these two very different cultures and languages.
