Marshall Weber, artist, activist and curator, started collecting artists books decades before the term was popular and he became directing curator of Booklyn. The collection focuses on underground and early pioneering examples of the contemporary artist book in all its forms including, Zines, photo-art books, artist book/fine press hybrids, experimental and altered book forms, and social practice publications. The collection amply documents the transition from analog to digital printing culture, the screen print renaissance, and the acceptance of the photo-book and artist book as major fine art media.

The collection is accompanied by a survey of rare catalogs, monographs and ephemera that provide a wide art historical context for artist publications.

This is a discreet collection containing many books that have not been collected elsewhere. It would make the perfect base for any institution seeking to seed a world class artists book collection. A full description and Finding Aid is available.
