Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN)
The Zapatista Army of National Liberation or Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN), based in Chiapas, Mexico, is a revolutionary leftist group that takes its name from Emiliano Zapata, the leader of the Liberation Army of the South during the Mexican Revolution. They are a non-violent group with a social base of mostly indigenous people with some supporters in urban areas and internationally as well. Since 1994 they have declared war against the Mexican state and have used tactical media to draw attention to their political causes.
