Impractical Labor in Service of the Speculative Arts (ILSSA) is a membership organization for those who make conceptual or experimental work with obsolete technology. The organization publishes original material on subjects of interest to its membership and the general public in the form of the "ILSSA Quarterly". Featured here are partial contents of the first two Quarterlies. Consider it an introduction to the concerns of Impractical Labor:

---->"The DIY Ethic & The Craft of Developing Self" theorizes that action is the key to happiness.

---->"What is Craft & why does it matter?" examines a roster of book titles containing the word and determines that craft is conscious, conscientious action.

---->"39 Kinds of Work" hypothesizes that all types of modern work are in fact derived from subsistence-based labor, and offers up the 39 Melachot as an index to our lives.

---->"The only freedom is freedom from want / Is freedom from want the only freedom" is a statement and a question embedded one within the other.

Each of the above items is designed, handset in lead type, and letterpress printed by its author.
